Breeding
Twelve months' élevage in Burgundian oak barrels (new to three years old). Extended twelve months' ageing in bottle.
On the eye
Deep, luminous purple robe with excellent clarity and depth of colour.
On the nose
Intense bouquet of dark berries—blackcurrant and blackberry—with violet aromatics. Discreet spice and a leather note add complexity and maturity.
In the mouth
Structured, velvety palate with dark fruit, white pepper and liquorice. The tannins are refined and integrated, with excellent length and a dry, mineral finish.
Clos des Grives stands as the reference point for the appellation. Combier has achieved something rare: a wine that unites the muscularity of Rhône Syrah with the elegance of fine Burgundy. Domaine Laurent Combier is a family wine estate in Pont-de-l'Isère (Drôme), Crozes-Hermitage appellation (Northern Rhône Valley). Around 25 hectares farmed organically. Grapes: Syrah (reds), Marsanne and Roussanne (whites). Cuvées: Clos des Grives, Domaine. Fresh, precise terroir wines among the benchmarks of Crozes-Hermitage.
