From seventy-year-old vines, a wine of considerable pedigree

  • This wine pairs beautifully with richly sauced meat dishes. The structure and weight of the Marcillac complement braised preparations particularly well, making it an excellent choice for traditional French cuisine.
  • Approachable now, with ripe dark fruit and integrated tannins, yet possessing the constitution to develop gracefully over the next decade. A wine that rewards both immediate enjoyment and patient cellaring.
  • Fifth-generation family expertise in viticulture and winemaking. Domaine du Cros represents continuity of knowledge and respect for the singular terroir of Marcillac, a region of considerable character in south-west France.

Product features : Domaine du Cros Marcillac les Rougiers 2018

In the mouth
Substantial and well-structured on the palate. Dark fruit flavours are supported by a refined tannin framework that has softened through careful élevage. A subtle vanilla note from oak ageing adds complexity without dominating the natural fruit expression.
On the nose
Expressive bouquet of blackcurrant and mint, layered with spice and white pepper notes. The aromatic profile speaks to the wine's freshness and the mineral character of the appellation.
On the eye
Deep ruby with violet reflections, indicating youth and vibrancy
Breeding
Ageing in part new oak barrels for 12 months
M. Francois
Particularly well suited to lamb tagine with olives and preserved lemon, where the wine's spice notes and dark fruit echo the Moroccan spicing whilst the acidity cuts through the richness of the sauce. A genuinely food-friendly expression of Marcillac's potential.
