Nine generations of Rhône winemaking excellence

  • A wine of genuine substance for the cellar. The 2022 vintage from Domaine du Monteillet represents the accumulated wisdom of nine generations of family winemaking in the northern Rhône. This is a wine that rewards patience and proper storage.
  • Particularly well suited to duck breast and poultry dishes. The wine's structure and fruit-forward character complement rich, flavourful meats with natural elegance. A natural pairing for classic French cuisine.
  • A generous Saint-Joseph that captures the essence of the northern Rhône. Ripe red fruit, subtle spice, and a persistent finish combine to create a wine of both refinement and approachability. Characterful without pretension.

Product features : Stephane Montez - Saint-Joseph 2022

In the mouth
The palate is broad and well-structured, with ripe tannins and good persistence. The wine shows balance between fruit expression and mineral character, finishing with a clean, lingering aftertaste that speaks to careful winemaking.
On the nose
Aromatic complexity unfolds gradually. Red fruits—cassis, raspberry, blackberry—mingle with violet and white pepper notes. With time in glass or bottle, leather and liquorice emerge, adding depth and intrigue to the bouquet.
On the eye
Ruby red with purple reflections, displaying the colour typical of fine northern Rhône reds
Breeding
Two months in French oak demi-muids, unracked and bottled by gravity under a favourable moon phase
M. Francois
This Saint-Joseph pairs excellently with poultry, particularly Bresse chicken, and with duck preparations such as magret. The wine's moderate alcohol and balanced acidity make it versatile at table. It is approachable now but will develop further complexity over the next five to seven years in a cool cellar.
