Where varietal and terroir achieve perfect expression

  • This wine embodies nine generations of winemaking heritage at Domaine du Monteillet. Stephane Montez continues a family tradition of meticulous viticulture and careful élevage in the steep vineyards of Condrieu, one of France's most demanding appellations.
  • Chanson is produced from a careful selection of parcels within the appellation, chosen for their particular mineral character and the ripeness they achieve in favourable vintages. The 2022 vintage reflects the precision of this parcel-by-parcel approach.
  • This wine pairs beautifully with spring vegetable risotto, where its mineral tension and subtle stone fruit notes complement the earthiness of the dish. It is equally at home with lighter seafood preparations and soft cheeses.

Product features : Stephane Montez - Condrieu Chanson 2022

In the mouth
The palate displays considerable tension and precision, driven by the mineral character of the terroir. The wine has good structure and length, with a dry finish that speaks clearly of its limestone-rich provenance.
On the nose
The bouquet opens with an elegant, buttered character, developing notes of pear, apricot, toasted bread and a whisper of violet. The aromatic profile is refined and layered.
On the eye
Pale straw yellow with golden highlights, bright and luminous
Breeding
22 months in demi-muids of Allier oak
M. Francois
Excellent with warm goat's cheese, sautéed foie gras, smoked salmon, and delicate white fish such as red mullet. The wine's acidity and mineral backbone make it a versatile companion to lighter spring and summer cuisine. Best enjoyed within three to five years of the vintage.
