Where terroir and Viognier achieve their finest expression

  • This wine represents nine generations of family winemaking on the steep slopes of Condrieu. Stéphane Montez continues a tradition of meticulous viticulture and careful élevage, producing wines of genuine complexity and ageing potential.
  • A wine built for the cellar. The mineral structure and natural acidity of this Condrieu will develop gracefully over a decade or more, rewarding patient collectors with deepening complexity and refinement.
  • A natural companion to foie gras. The wine's floral notes and mineral tension cut through richness with elegance, making it equally compelling with smoked salmon, grilled turbot or a delicate spring vegetable risotto.

Product features : Stephane Montez - Condrieu les Grandes Chaillees 2023

In the mouth
The palate is taut and mineral-driven, with a linear structure that speaks clearly of terroir. The finish is persistent and clean, leaving an impression of precision rather than weight. This is a wine of restraint and breeding.
On the nose
The bouquet is generous and refined, offering delicate notes of acacia blossom, honeycomb and toasted brioche. These aromas unfold gradually, revealing the wine's complexity without assertiveness.
On the eye
Pale straw-yellow with golden highlights. The appearance is bright and luminous, suggesting the wine's freshness.
Breeding
Aged 10 months in 75% new French oak barrels and 25% new French oak demi-muids, without racking.
M. Francois
Les Grandes Chaillees pairs beautifully with warm goat's cheese, seared foie gras, smoked salmon, grilled lobster, turbot with hollandaise sauce, or a delicate spring vegetable risotto. The wine's mineral backbone and floral aromatics make it equally at home as an aperitif wine or at table with refined seafood preparations.
