A Provençal white of substance and refinement from a family estate since 1830

  • Planted on north-facing hillside slopes with calcareous scree soils, the vineyard benefits from the distinctive terroir of Meyreuil, near Aix-en-Provence. The Rougier family has stewarded these vines since 1830.
  • All fruit is hand-harvested at full maturity, a labour-intensive practice that ensures optimal ripeness and phenolic development for wines of genuine complexity.
  • Whilst approachable in youth for its bright, fruit-forward character, Chateau Simone Blanc develops considerably in bottle. With time, it reveals deeper layers: dried fruits, honey, truffle notes, and a refined mineral spine that speaks to its terroir.

Breeding
Aged in small oak vats for 18 months, including 6 months on fine lees, followed by one year in barrels before bottling.
On the eye
Pale golden hue, limpid and bright, with subtle green glints.
On the nose
Elegant and layered, with white flowers, citrus, and stone fruits (pear, peach) alongside delicate honey and almond notes.
In the mouth
Ample and silken, with white stone fruits, white flowers, and honey interwoven with toasted almond and gentle spice. The finish is long, marked by mineral freshness and a light salinity that adds considerable complexity.
M. Francois
A white of genuine distinction: aromatic richness balanced by freshness and depth. Its capacity to evolve in the cellar sets it apart. Excellent with seafood, poached fish, and white meats. A wine for those who appreciate structure, elegance, and the rewards of patient cellaring.

CHATEAU SIMONE

Perched on the north-facing hillsides of Meyreuil, east of Aix-en-Provence, Château Simone farms 23 hectares at the heart of AOC Palette — one of Provence's smallest and most discreet appellations. Once the property of the Grands Carmes monks in the sixteenth century, the estate passed to Nicolas-Toussaint Rougier in 1830; it was his great-grandson Jean Rougier who secured the AOC Palette classification in 1948, cementing the estate's place in Provençal wine history. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the singular character of its calcaire de Langesse soils, the rigour of the Rougier family across four generations, and the rare ageing potential of its reds, whites and rosés. A Provence address that needs no introduction to those already in the know.
