Three generations of vignerons devoted to their terroir

  • This wine possesses a wild, untamed character that speaks to the rugged beauty of the Gigondas appellation. The fruit retains an appealing rusticity, refusing to be polished into uniformity.
  • The élevage has imparted considerable complexity and structure. Oak and time have woven together tannin, fruit and secondary flavours into a wine of considerable depth and ageing potential.
  • A compelling equilibrium of dark fruit, garrigue and pepper creates a wine of both power and refinement. The aromatic profile is intricate, the palate substantial yet balanced, the finish distinguished.

Product features : Domaine Pierre Amadieu - Gigondas Domaine Grand Romane 2021

In the mouth
Powerful, well-integrated tannins dissolve into a lengthy finish of liquorice and white pepper. The structure is evident, the progression measured, the conclusion persistent.
On the nose
Aromas of blackcurrant and morello cherry meld with vanilla-tinged red fruit notes. Thyme, bay leaf, rosemary and black olive complete a complex, layered bouquet.
On the eye
Brilliant ruby-red robe with good depth of colour
Breeding
Aged 18 months in barrels (45% used oak and 15% new), and in large wooden vats (40%) to soften and integrate the power of the tannins
M. Francois
This is a wine of considerable merit alongside game, particularly wild boar, where its tannin structure and savoury undertones find their perfect complement. The wine's rusticity and power make it equally suited to hearty Provençal cuisine and robust meat dishes. Decanting one hour before service is recommended.
