Elegant Syrah with finesse and savoury depth

  • This Saint-Joseph originates from the distinctive granite slopes of the appellation, where Syrah develops remarkable minerality and refinement. The terroir allows full expression of this emblematic Rhône cépage, delivering purity and richness in equal measure.
  • Intense aromas of dark fruits, spice and violet characterise this wine. It marries power with freshness through well-managed tannin structure, offering immediate pleasure whilst rewarding cellaring. A wine of genuine versatility.
  • Approachable upon release, this Saint-Joseph will evolve gracefully in bottle over several years, developing complex secondary notes of forest floor and leather. A wine equally suited to early enjoyment or patient maturation.

Domaine Louis Chèze's Saint-Joseph Rouge Anges embodies the elegance characteristic of northern Rhône Syrah. Its complex aromatics, silky texture and mineral backbone make it equally compelling as an aperitif wine or with grilled red meats, sauced dishes and mature cheeses. A refined expression of Syrah that will appeal to those seeking substance without ostentation.

DOMAINE LOUIS CHEZE

On the granite hillsides of Limony in Ardèche, Domaine Louis Cheze works 35 hectares within the Saint-Joseph appellation, on the right bank of the Rhône. Louis Chèze took over the property in 1978 with a single hectare, building the estate steadily around Syrah for the reds and Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier for the whites, with yields held between 25 and 40 hl/ha depending on the cuvée. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the consistency of its wines, the frank mineral expression of Limony's granite, and the commitment of three generations — Louis, Camille and Benoît Chèze — to one of the northern Rhône's most demanding terroirs. A dependable reference from the Vallée du Rhône.
