Breeding
Approximately 15 to 18 months in French oak barrels. A substantial proportion (often 50% to 80%) to impart structure and complexity.
On the eye
Deep purple-violet in colour, with striking brilliance and considerable depth.
On the nose
An expressive bouquet of ripe blackberry and plum, with distinct notes of liquorice and dark chocolate. Elegant oak handling is evident, with a subtle floral note of violet adding refinement to the composition.
In the mouth
Rich and opulent, with a dense, almost creamy texture characteristic of the finest 2023 Merlots. The tannins are ripe and enveloping, providing a long finish marked by vanilla and preserved fruit notes.
Château Sacré Coeur represents Pomerol at its most hedonistic. Rather than pursuing the demonstrative power of neighbouring classified growths, this wine prioritises elegance and generosity. It is a caressing wine, ideal for discovering the magic of Right Bank Merlots without the austerity often associated with serious cellar wines.
