The modern expression of Alain Brumont's Madiran craft

  • Torus offers a contemporary interpretation of Madiran, built on dark fruit and spice aromatics. This wine reflects Brumont's philosophy of balancing structure with approachability, delivering a wine of genuine character without unnecessary extraction.
  • Crafted from vines under twenty years of age, Torus exhibits the freshness and vibrancy characteristic of younger plantings on the Montus and Bouscassé terroirs. The result is a wine of considerable fruit-forward appeal with refined spice notes.
  • This selection draws exclusively from the younger vineyard blocks of Vignobles Brumont's two flagship estates. The terroirs of Montus and Bouscassé, planted on clay-limestone slopes, impart both structure and elegance to this approachable yet serious Madiran.

Breeding
One year's ageing in vats on fine lees
On the eye
Bright ruby robe with excellent clarity and depth
On the nose
Pronounced aromas of dark berries—blackcurrant and plum—with secondary notes of white pepper and subtle leather. The bouquet is inviting and well-defined, suggesting both fruit maturity and careful handling.
In the mouth
The palate is fleshy and well-structured, with ripe dark fruit flavours underpinned by measured tannin. Spice emerges mid-palate, contributing to a wine of genuine volume and roundness. The finish is clean and persistent, with no harsh edges.
M. Francois
Torus is an ideal companion for informal entertaining and robust cuisine. Consider it with grilled meats—entrecôte, pork chops—or with the bold flavours of Asian cooking. The wine's balance and approachability make it equally suited to a relaxed supper with friends as to more considered dining. Serve at 16–17°C.

VIGNOBLES BRUMONT

Based in Maumusson-Laguian in the Gers, Vignobles Brumont spans 300 hectares across the Madiran appellation, on south-facing slopes of reddish rolled pebbles and deep clays. Since 1979, Alain Brumont has made Tannat his signature, establishing Château Bouscassé and Château Montus as the benchmark addresses of the Sud-Ouest — a standing confirmed by five stars from Bettane+Desseauve in 2023, the only estate in the region to hold that distinction. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the rigour of its terroirs, the consistency of its élevage, and the remarkable ageing potential of its reds over a decade and beyond. A Sud-Ouest address we back without reservation.
