The refined expression of Alain Brumont's mastery

  • This Pacherenc moelleux demonstrates the calibre of the finest sweet wines of south-west France. Brumont's meticulous approach to noble rot and selective harvesting yields a wine of considerable depth and finesse, rivalling the great liquoreux of Sauternes and Monbazillac in complexity.
  • Produced from mature vines of approximately thirty years' standing, these parcels yield grapes of exceptional concentration. The age of the vineyard contributes to the wine's mineral backbone and the subtle integration of residual sugar with the underlying terroir.
  • The palate presents a harmonious balance of preserved fruits—candied citrus and dried apricot—with a refined sweetness that never dominates. The wine's structure is supported by a subtle bitter note and lively acidity, creating a wine of considerable complexity and food-friendly character.

M. Francois
At Chateau Bouscassé, Brumont produces three distinct Pacherenc moelleux cuvées, each named after the French Revolutionary calendar and harvested at specific natural alcohol levels: Vendémiaire (18°), Brumaire (19°), and Frimaire (20°). This Brumaire represents the middle expression, offering optimal balance between concentration and freshness, with harvest typically occurring in November

VIGNOBLES BRUMONT

Based in Maumusson-Laguian in the Gers, Vignobles Brumont spans 300 hectares across the Madiran appellation, on south-facing slopes of reddish rolled pebbles and deep clays. Since 1979, Alain Brumont has made Tannat his signature, establishing Château Bouscassé and Château Montus as the benchmark addresses of the Sud-Ouest — a standing confirmed by five stars from Bettane+Desseauve in 2023, the only estate in the region to hold that distinction. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the rigour of its terroirs, the consistency of its élevage, and the remarkable ageing potential of its reds over a decade and beyond. A Sud-Ouest address we back without reservation.
