In the mouth
Black cherry and wild bramble dominate, supported by warm spice notes. The tannins are refined rather than aggressive, allowing the fruit to shine. Impressive length.
On the nose
Complex bouquet revealing dark cherry, black plum and quetsche, with notes of wild bay leaf and subtle herbaceous character. Well-integrated aromatics.
On the eye
Deep blood-red with russet undertones. Visibly concentrated.
Breeding
88% in demi-muids (600L) and 12% in terracotta amphora for 14 months
M. Francois
A wine that rewards careful cellaring. The 2022 vintage shows the discipline and purity that define this domaine's organic approach. Pair with rich terrines, casseroled game, or aged hard cheeses. Drinking well now, but will benefit from three to five years in a cool cellar.

LE CLOS DU CAILLOU

Le Clos du Caillou is a wine estate in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation (Southern Rhône). Run by Sylvie Vacheron and Bruno Gaspard. Around 53 hectares. Grapes: Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Cinsault (reds), Roussanne, Clairette, Bourboulenc (whites). Organically farmed. Cuvées: Les Quartz, Les Safres, Reserve. Wines of great depth and complexity.
