In the mouth
Black cherry and wild blackberry dominate, underpinned by soft spice and subtle tannin structure. The finish is notably long and persistent, with good balance between fruit and supporting acidity.
On the nose
Complex bouquet developing black cherry, dark plum liqueur, quetsche and wild bay leaf. The aromatics are layered and evolve with aeration, revealing the wine's maturity and depth.
On the eye
Deep blood-red with undertones of Falun red. Dense, saturated colour suggesting good concentration.
Breeding
88% in demi-muids (600L) and 12% in terracotta amphora for 14 months

Le Clos du Caillou is a wine estate in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation (Southern Rhône). Run by Sylvie Vacheron and Bruno Gaspard. Around 53 hectares. Grapes: Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Cinsault (reds), Roussanne, Clairette, Bourboulenc (whites). Organically farmed. Cuvées: Les Quartz, Les Safres, Reserve. Wines of great depth and complexity.
