A self-taught vigneron's elegant expression of northern Rhône granite
- The vineyard sits on predominantly granitic soils that impart distinctive minerality and structural balance. South and south-east facing slopes provide optimal sun exposure whilst remaining sheltered from prevailing westerly and northerly winds.
- François Villard has crafted a white of considerable finesse, marrying body and richness with refreshing acidity and a persistent mineral finish.
- This is a wine of genuine character and substance, offering considerable pleasure without pretension. It represents thoughtful winemaking from a grower who understands his terroir intimately.

In the mouth
Round and dense on the palate with fine acidity providing lift and definition. A clean, mineral finish demonstrates the purity of the fruit and the influence of the underlying geology.
On the nose
Fruited and toasted aromas with pronounced mineral notes. The bouquet develops with air, revealing the wine's granite heritage.
On the eye
Pale straw yellow
Breeding
Eleven months on lees without racking. Twenty per cent new oak and eighty per cent in barrels of three to five years old.
This wine is approachable now and will develop gracefully through 2024. It pairs naturally with shellfish, white fish preparations, and poultry. The mineral character and acidity also make it an excellent accompaniment to goat's cheese and other fresh dairy preparations. Serve at 10-12°C.

Domaine François Villard is a wine estate in Saint-Michel-sur-Rhône (Loire), Northern Rhône Valley. Founded in 1989 by François Villard (co-founder of Les Vins de Vienne). Around 35 hectares. Grapes: Syrah, Viognier, Roussanne, Marsanne. Appellations: Condrieu, Côte-Rôtie, Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage. Precise, aromatic terroir wines.
