- The vineyard benefits from granite-rich soils that impart mineral character and structural balance. South to south-easterly exposure provides ideal ripening conditions whilst natural protection from westerly and northerly winds ensures consistent quality.

In the mouth

18 months in oak barrels, 20% new oak and 80% barrels aged 3 to 5 years
A wine of genuine pleasure. The balance of ripe fruit, mineral structure and elegant tannins makes this particularly suitable alongside beef bourguignon or mature cheeses. The supple character means it can be enjoyed now, though the structure suggests modest ageing potential.

Domaine François Villard is a wine estate in Saint-Michel-sur-Rhône (Loire), Northern Rhône Valley. Founded in 1989 by François Villard (co-founder of Les Vins de Vienne). Around 35 hectares. Grapes: Syrah, Viognier, Roussanne, Marsanne. Appellations: Condrieu, Côte-Rôtie, Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage. Precise, aromatic terroir wines.
