A wine of considerable mineral character

  • Six generations of vignerons have stewarded this exceptional Saint-Joseph terroir on the right bank of the Rhône. The Gripa family's deep knowledge of their slopes informs every decision, from canopy management to harvest timing.
  • Cultivated with reasoned viticulture practices that respect the vineyard's natural balance. The approach yields wines of genuine expression rather than forced extraction.
  • This wine shows particular affinity with game—venison, wild boar, and duck all find worthy partners here. The structure and mineral spine cut through rich sauces with elegance.

Product features : Domaine Bernard Gripa - le Berceau 2022 — Saint-Joseph

In the mouth
Powerful and well-structured, with substantial tannins that have begun to integrate. The mid-palate shows good concentration, whilst the mineral character persists through to a clean, persistent finish. Considerable ageing potential.
On the nose
Aromas of dark cherry and bilberry lead, followed by cassis and white pepper. A distinctive siliceous note—characteristic of the granite-based terroir—adds complexity and freshness to the bouquet.
On the eye
Deep purple-garnet robe, dark and lustrous with good intensity
Breeding
One year in oak barrels
M. Francois
A classic Saint-Joseph that demonstrates why this appellation merits serious consideration. The wine pairs beautifully with beef fillet and other red meats where its tannin structure and mineral backbone provide excellent balance. Drink now or cellar for 8–12 years.
