Generations of vignerons devoted to their terroir

  • This wine possesses a distinctly wild character, reflecting the untamed nature of the Gigondas appellation. The fruit-forward profile is tempered by garrigue notes that speak to the Rhône's distinctive terroir, creating a wine of genuine personality and restraint.
  • The élevage has been carefully managed to develop complexity without excessive oak influence. The winemaking respects the fruit whilst building structure, allowing the wine's natural power and elegance to emerge gradually through the palate.
  • A compelling balance emerges between ripe dark fruit, aromatic herbs, and peppery spice. The wine achieves distinction through its refusal to overwhelm, instead offering layers of flavour that reward contemplation and reveal themselves across the finish.

In the mouth
Powerful, well-integrated tannins provide structure without harshness. The palate unfolds with liquorice and peppery spice, culminating in a lingering finish that demonstrates the wine's inherent balance and breeding.
On the nose
Aromas of blackcurrant and morello cherry meld with vanilla-tinged red fruit notes. Herbal undertones of thyme, bay leaf and rosemary emerge alongside darker hints of black olive, creating an aromatic profile of considerable complexity.
On the eye
Brilliant ruby-red robe with good depth of colour
Breeding
Aged 18 months in barrels (45% used oak and 15% new), and in large wooden vats (40%) to soften and integrate the power of the tannins
M. Francois
This is a wine of substance that rewards patience. Its structure and aromatic complexity make it particularly suited to game dishes—venison or wild boar in particular—where its power and herbal character find natural expression. It will develop further over the next five to eight years, though it is approachable now for those who appreciate wines of character.
