Schist-slope Syrah of considerable refinement

  • The 2021 displays the characteristic complexity of Côte-Rôtie: dark fruit intensity balanced by mineral precision. A wine of substance that rewards patience in the cellar, developing further nuance over five to ten years.
  • Domaine Pierre Amadieu's parcel selection reflects generations of understanding these steep, schist-laden slopes. This is a serious addition to any serious cellar, particularly for those who appreciate the northern Rhône's distinctive character.
  • The élevage in large wooden foudres is restrained, allowing the Syrah's inherent complexity to dominate. Oak integrates seamlessly, enhancing rather than masking the wine's noble character and aromatic depth.

Ample, structured palate with fine-grained tannins. Red fruit flavours persist through to a long, silky finish with lingering mineral precision and black pepper notes.
On the nose

On the eye
Deep, dark garnet with subtle purple rim. Dense, concentrated appearance.
Breeding
Aged in barrels for 12 months, of which 40% new oak
M. Francois
A wine of considerable merit with game, particularly venison and wild boar. The wine's structure and complexity also complement aged cheeses and rich meat preparations. Decant thirty minutes before service to allow full expression of its aromatic character.
