Product features : Domaine Cazes Rivesaltes 1963

Breeding
Extended ageing in oxidative conditions in oak casks and barrels over several decades before bottling.
On the eye
Deep mahogany robe with burnished copper highlights. Despite its age and density, the wine displays remarkable brilliance with an amber-hued disc.
On the nose
Intense bouquet marked by noble rancio character. Roasted walnuts, torrefied coffee, aged leather and cigar box mingle with dried figs, bitter orange peel, cocoa and subtle hints of beeswax and camphor.
In the mouth
Unctuous attack with immediate structural balance from the alcohol. The palate is spherical and concentrated, with wood tannins fully integrated into the wine's liqueur. Despite its age, the wine retains surprising vitality. The finish is remarkably persistent, returning to dried fruits, blonde tobacco and an elegant liquorice bitterness.
M. Francois
This 1963 Rivesaltes represents a significant piece of viticultural heritage—a wine that has evolved across six decades to achieve a complexity attainable only through exceptionally prolonged oxidative ageing. The marriage of sweetness and structure is exemplary. Particularly rewarding with dark chocolate-based desserts or as a meditation wine in its own right.
