A white wine of considerable distinction and ageing potential

  • This Pessac-Léognan possesses genuine structure and complexity for the cellar. The balance between Sauvignon Blanc's crisp acidity and Sémillon's richness suggests a wine that will develop gracefully over the coming years, rewarding patience with deepening complexity.
  • The Sauvignon Blanc component delivers characteristic freshness: bright citrus notes and tropical fruit aromatics that define the wine's youthful character. This provides the wine's essential vivacity and mineral backbone.
  • The Sémillon contributes body and textural richness, with white-fleshed stone fruit and honeyed notes that add substance and warmth. This traditional Graves blend creates a wine of genuine depth and layered complexity.

Château Picque Caillou's 2022 white demonstrates the enduring quality of the Graves appellation. The marriage of Sauvignon Blanc's freshness and Sémillon's richness is well-judged, creating a wine with both immediate appeal and genuine cellaring potential. This is a serious expression of Pessac-Léognan, suitable for those seeking a white wine of substance and character.

CHATEAU PICQUE CAILLOU

Established on 25 hectares of Pyrenean Gunz gravels in Mérignac, Château Picque Caillou is one of the oldest properties in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, with origins dating to 1755. Acquired by the Calvet family in 1998 and guided since 2007 by Paulin Calvet with Professor Denis Dubourdieu as consulting oenologist, this château combines rigorous HVE-certified viticulture with a precise expression of its stony, alluvial soils. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the consistency of its Cabernet Sauvignon-led reds and the aromatic clarity of its Sauvignon-Sémillon whites — two ranges that faithfully reflect the mineral character and freshness that define Pessac-Léognan. A serious, accessible Bordeaux address underpinned by a coherent family vision.
