Terroir expressed with the craft of generations

  • A wine of genuine complexity, displaying concentrated fruit character balanced by the finesse that distinguishes the finest Morgon expressions. The structure speaks to careful viticulture and thoughtful élevage.
  • Produced from vines exceeding eighty years of age, which impart depth and mineral precision to the wine. These mature plantings yield fruit of particular intensity and character.
  • A limited cuvée from a single hectare parcel, reflecting the specific terroir of this distinguished vineyard. Production is necessarily modest, making this an opportunity for those seeking authenticity over volume.

Breeding
Traditional vinification with whole-bunch carbonic maceration for 9 days. Ageing 6 months in stainless steel tank.
On the eye
A tender ruby hue, clear and luminous, with the translucency characteristic of well-made Morgon.
On the nose
Fresh raspberry and redcurrant notes predominate, with a subtle suggestion of Burlat cherry. The aromatics are refined and inviting, neither heavy nor diffuse.
In the mouth
The palate reveals good structure underpinned by supple, well-integrated tannins. The wine possesses balance and length, developing gracefully across the mid-palate without heaviness.
M. Francois
This wine pairs thoughtfully with terrines and charcuterie, where its acidity and tannin structure provide welcome counterpoint. Equally at home alongside lamb—a roasted gigot d'agneau would be an excellent choice. Serve at cellar temperature, or very slightly chilled in warmer months.

DOMAINE JEAN-MARC BURGAUD

Based in Villié-Morgon, Domaine Jean-Marc Burgaud farms 19 hectares across the celebrated slopes of the Côte du Py, at the heart of the Morgon appellation. Founded in 1989, the estate gained its true character in 1992 when Jean-Marc — trained in Burgundy and steeped in a vigneron family — took over his father-in-law's vines on these iron- and manganese-rich schists. That Burgundian formation shows: he reads his parcels with the rigour of a climat, coaxing both power and finesse from Gamay Noir on some of Beaujolais's most distinctive terroir. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the precision of its vineyard work, the typicity of its Morgon, and a consistency of style that places it firmly among the serious addresses of the appellation. A benchmark for the cellar.
