Generations of passion and stewardship in every bottle

  • This wine embodies the harmony between vineyard, people and terroir that defines the finest Moulis estates. Chateau Chasse-Spleen reflects decades of family commitment to quality and sustainable viticulture.
  • The 2022 vintage displays the hallmark balance of the appellation—muscular structure married to seamless tannin integration. A wine of substance that rewards patience and proper cellaring.
  • This is not a wine for immediate consumption. Allow it five to eight years in bottle to permit the tannins to soften and secondary flavours to develop. Premature opening would do it a disservice.

In the mouth
The attack is clean and direct. Flavours of dark berries, cocoa bean, mint and leather unfold across the palate. The structure is tight yet refined, with supple tannins that promise graceful evolution over time.
On the nose
Fresh plum and cocoa dominate the initial bouquet, with subtle undercurrents of graphite and dried herbs emerging as the wine opens in the glass.
On the eye
Deep garnet with a brilliant core; the rim shows the faintest amber edge characteristic of youth.
M. Francois
This wine finds its ideal expression alongside a traditional Bordeaux entrecôte or roasted duck. The wine's mineral backbone and structured tannins complement rich, well-seasoned meat dishes. Decant one hour before service to allow the aromatics to fully develop.

CHATEAU CHASSE-SPLEEN

Sitting on the celebrated Grand-Poujeaux plateau in Moulis-en-Médoc, Château Chasse-Spleen covers 107 hectares of some of the most consistent Médoc gravel soils in the appellation. Born from the partition of the Grand-Poujeaux estate in 1822, the château was acquired in 1976 by the Merlaut family, today represented by Céline and Jean-Pierre Villars-Foubet, who have steered it towards Terra Vitis and HVE certification and expanded its footprint significantly with the purchase of neighbouring Château Brillette in 2022. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the reliability of its reds, the precision of their élevage, and the clarity of a long-term viticultural vision. A dependable reference for anyone seeking Moulis at its most assured.
