The distinguished second wine of a historic Médoc estate

  • This is the second wine of Château Léoville Las Cases, one of the oldest and most respected vineyards in the Médoc. It offers the character and pedigree of the grand vin in a more approachable format, crafted with the same rigorous standards.
  • The wine displays a harmonious tannic structure that speaks to careful selection and measured élevage. The tannins are refined rather than austere, providing structure without dominating the palate, allowing the fruit to express itself fully.
  • A wine of genuine finesse with impressive length on the palate. The finish lingers with elegant persistence, revealing layers of flavour that unfold gradually—a hallmark of serious Saint-Julien winemaking.

Product features : Le Petit Lion du Marquis de Las Cases 2022 — Saint-Julien

In the mouth
Supple and silky on entry, with an ample mid-palate supported by harmonious tannins. The wine flows with elegance, balancing richness with restraint. The finish is clean and persistent.
On the nose
Expressive bouquet combining dark cherry and blackcurrant with subtle creamy undertones. Secondary notes of graphite and cedar emerge with air, reflecting the wine's structure and breeding.
On the eye
Deep, intense ruby red with excellent clarity and depth of colour.
Breeding
Aged ten months in oak barrels (approximately 10% new).
M. Francois
This wine pairs beautifully with duck preparations—a ballotine or confit would be ideal. It also complements roasted veal excellently, and will enhance a cheese course, particularly aged Comté or similar firm cheeses. Drink now through 2035.
