Breeding
18 months in French oak barrels, with a significant proportion of new wood, imparting subtle oak structure and elegant toasted aromas
On the eye
Deep garnet robe with violet glints, reflecting the wine's concentration and youthful vigour.
On the nose
Expressive and layered: fresh red and dark berries—blackberry, blueberry, raspberry—develop into aniseed, liquorice and graphite notes with aeration, finishing with subtle floral hints of violet.
In the mouth
Broad attack followed by refined balance. Ripe fruit and mineral freshness interweave with supple, concentrated tannins. The texture is silken, the finish lengthy and elegant.
A compelling alternative to the Grand Vin, Le Petit Smith Haut Lafitte offers genuine complexity and finesse whilst remaining more immediately accessible. It demonstrates that quality need not demand patience, though the wine will certainly reward careful cellaring.

CHATEAU SMITH HAUT LAFITTE
Château Smith Haut Lafitte is a wine estate in the Pessac-Léognan appellation (Bordeaux), classified Grand Cru Classé de Graves. Area: 78 hectares (67 ha red, 11 ha white). Owned by the Cathiard family since 1990. Red grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon (63%), Merlot (30%), Cabernet Franc (6%), Petit Verdot (1%). White grapes: Sauvignon Blanc (90%), Sémillon (5%), Sauvignon Gris (5%). Certified organic since 2019.
