Fifth Growth Pauillac with classical structure and ageing potential

  • The wine demonstrates the characteristic structure of Cabernet Sauvignon married with the textural roundness that Merlot contributes. This balance forms the foundation of a classically proportioned Pauillac.
  • Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc add further layers of complexity and refinement, contributing to the wine's depth and the subtle interplay of flavours that develops with time in bottle.
  • This vintage displays a magnificent capacity for cellaring. The wine's architecture suggests it will develop gracefully over the coming decade, revealing additional nuance and integration as it matures.

In the mouth
The palate is well-balanced and composed, with a dynamic finish that persists with good length. The wine displays the structure one expects from a classified growth, with tannins that are present but refined.
On the nose
The bouquet is powerful and expressive, opening with citrus notes and mandarin zest, followed by anise and white pepper. The aromatic profile speaks to the wine's freshness and the quality of the fruit.
On the eye
Pale gold with green-tinged reflections, suggesting youth and freshness.
Breeding
Aged in French oak barrels for 16 to 18 months
M. Francois
This Fifth Growth pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, particularly when served with the traditional accompaniment of potatoes boulangères. The wine's structure and acidity complement the richness of the meat whilst its complexity enhances the overall dining experience. A fine example of Pauillac's classical style.

CHATEAU PEDESCLAUX

Situated on the plateau above Pauillac (Gironde), Château Pedesclaux is a 5th Grand Cru Classé 1855 of 52 hectares, farmed organically across a mosaic of 19 distinct soil types. Founded in 1810 by Bordeaux broker Urbain-Pierre Pédesclaux, the château was transformed from 2009 onwards by the Lorenzetti family, who rebuilt the vineyard parcel by parcel and opened a fully gravity-flow winery in 2014 — a statement of intent as much as a technical choice. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the rigour of its organic conversion, the precision of its parcel-by-parcel work on deep Garonne gravels, and the clear alignment between a classified growth's ambition and genuinely conscientious viticulture. A Pauillac of real character and honest terroir.
