Generations of passion and stewardship in the vineyard

  • This wine bears witness to the profound harmony between vine, soil, and the hands that tend them. Chateau Chasse-Spleen represents a continuity of family tradition and careful viticulture in one of Médoc's most respected appellations.
  • The 2022 vintage demonstrates the estate's hallmark: an elegant equilibrium between power and refinement. Structured tannins support a wine of considerable depth, yet one that remains poised and expressive rather than heavy.
  • This is a wine that will reward patience. The 2022 should not be approached in haste; allow it five to eight years in bottle to reveal its full complexity and allow the tannins to achieve their full integration.

Product features : Chateau Chasse-Spleen 2022 — Moulis-En-Médoc

On the eye
Deep garnet with a lustrous core; the rim shows the faintest orange development characteristic of well-made Médoc.
On the nose
Fresh plum and cocoa notes emerge first, with hints of graphite and dried herbs developing as the wine opens. The aromatics are restrained and classical, speaking to terroir rather than extraction.
In the mouth
A firm, direct attack leads to a palate of considerable structure. Mint, cocoa-bean, leather, and dark berry flavours build steadily. The tannins are fine-grained and integrated, the texture supple despite the wine's evident power. A wine of serious intent.
M. Francois
This Moulis pairs beautifully with the classic Bordelaise preparations: a grilled entrecôte or roasted duck would be ideal companions. The wine's structure and tannin profile suit substantial dishes rather than delicate preparations. Consider it equally for beef en daube or a well-hung game bird.

CHATEAU CHASSE-SPLEEN

Sitting on the celebrated Grand-Poujeaux plateau in Moulis-en-Médoc, Château Chasse-Spleen covers 107 hectares of some of the most consistent Médoc gravel soils in the appellation. Born from the partition of the Grand-Poujeaux estate in 1822, the château was acquired in 1976 by the Merlaut family, today represented by Céline and Jean-Pierre Villars-Foubet, who have steered it towards Terra Vitis and HVE certification and expanded its footprint significantly with the purchase of neighbouring Château Brillette in 2022. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the reliability of its reds, the precision of their élevage, and the clarity of a long-term viticultural vision. A dependable reference for anyone seeking Moulis at its most assured.
