In the mouth
A wine of good structure and elegance. The Merlot-dominant blend provides richness and body, whilst maintaining a refined palate. The finish is clean and persistent, with fine tannins that suggest further development in bottle.
On the nose
Ripe dark fruit aromas with pronounced spice notes. The bouquet develops complexity with time, revealing layers of black cherry and subtle oak influence.
On the eye
Deep, dark ruby colour with good intensity.
M. Francois
Versatile at table: pairs excellently with game, venison, and duck; complements roasted red and white meats equally well. Works with mushroom-based dishes and green vegetables. Soft and aged cheeses are natural partners. Best approached with patience—allow several years in a cool cellar for full expression.

Nicolas françois, propriétaire passionné des halles de quercamps

CHATEAU PUYGUERAUD

Perched on the plateau of Francs in the Gironde at 117 metres altitude, Château Puygueraud covers 47 hectares of argilo-calcaire soils within the Francs-Côtes de Bordeaux appellation. George Thienpont acquired the estate in 1946; his son Nicolas took the helm in 1983, followed by grandson Cyrille from 2009 — three generations of consistent, unhurried viticulture. The reds, built on Merlot and Cabernet Franc, show real precision and typicity, while whites from Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris add a welcome dimension to the range. At Halles Quercamps, we selected this château for the coherence of its winemaking vision, the authenticity of its terroir, and its reliability across successive vintages — a sound reference for exploring the Côtes de Bordeaux beyond the better-known appellations.
