Breeding
All grape varieties are vinified and aged separately in barrel for 12 months
On the eye
Pale gold to clear yellow, with bright, crystalline clarity.
On the nose
Dominated by stone fruits: ripe yellow peach and fresh apricot, with underlying mineral notes and a whisper of vanilla oak.
In the mouth
Fruited attack with good weight and structure. The barrel influence is present yet restrained, lending texture without heaviness. Citrus and mineral notes drive a clean, dry finish.
Villa Lucia is among Minervois's finest whites. The Gautran family has achieved the difficult balance of barrel ageing southern white varieties: the wine retains its fruited brightness whilst gaining gastronomic dimension. A serious, textured white that avoids the trap of over-ripeness through the freshness of the domaine's limestone soils. Excellent with white meats, mushroom dishes, grilled fish, and cheeses such as Cantal or Comté.
