A defining expression of the Roussillon terroir

  • Released only in exceptional vintages, this confidential cuvée represents the finest fruit selection from Le Clos des Fees. The 2018 demonstrates the house's commitment to quality over quantity, with careful vineyard management and selective harvesting.
  • Vibrant red fruit character balanced with freshness and natural acidity. The wine retains the elegance and purity characteristic of cooler-climate Roussillon expressions, avoiding the heaviness sometimes found in southern French reds.
  • Structured tannins and good concentration suggest a wine of considerable ageing potential. Cellaring for five to ten years will allow the wine to develop further complexity and soften gracefully, rewarding patience with deeper, more integrated flavours.

In the mouth
Fine-grained tannins provide structure without dominating. The palate shows excellent length and a silky texture, with flavours echoing the nose. A wine of genuine refinement and balance, with sufficient weight to accompany substantial dishes.
On the nose
Complex and layered: dark berries, cassis and bilberry are complemented by subtle vanilla notes and hints of preserved fruit. The aromatics suggest both ripe fruit and careful oak élevage in balance.
On the eye
Brilliant garnet with subtle depth
M. Francois
This wine pairs beautifully with herb-roasted lamb, particularly when the herbs are Mediterranean in character—rosemary, thyme and oregano complement the wine's darker fruit and subtle spice notes. Also excellent with game birds, mature cheeses, or simply as a contemplative glass after dinner.
