A domaine of considerable standing

  • Syrah-driven and essential to our selection, this wine commands attention through its power and complexity. Dark berry fruits, pepper and spice notes are underpinned by a firm tannic structure, whilst Grenache and Cinsault contribute refinement and balance.
  • This is a wine that rewards patience. Decant it into your cellar for several years and it will develop considerable depth and nuance.
  • The vineyard parcels take their name from an old tree—long since vanished—that once dominated the horizon. A poetic reminder of the land's history.

In the mouth
The palate is generous and welcoming, revealing forest fruits with layers of spice and subtle mineral character. The wine carries excellent length and a natural elegance that speaks to careful winemaking.
On the nose
An expressive bouquet of blackberry and plum, with white pepper, cinnamon, warming spice and a floral note of violet throughout.
On the eye
Deep violet hue, nearly opaque in appearance.
Breeding
Aged 21 months in barrel, one-third Syrah in new Burgundy oak for 9 months, Grenache and Cinsault in demi-muids and large foudres for 9 months, then blending of the finest barrels of each variety followed by 12 months' maturation of the final blend in the same vessels.
M. Francois
A versatile accompaniment to game birds, roasted poultry and well-aged cheeses. The wine's structure and complexity make it equally suited to informal gatherings or more formal dining. Serve at 16–17°C to appreciate its full character.
