A Burgundy secret from the hillsides of Rully

  • The vineyard sits on steep slopes between 270 and 350 metres altitude, where lean, chalk-rich soils naturally control yields. This elevated position creates a warm microclimate that ensures full ripeness of the fruit, a hallmark of quality Rully production.
  • Rully remains one of Burgundy's most discreet appellations, its modest size preserving its character and authenticity. Few producers work these terroirs with the rigour and tradition of Domaine de Villaine.
  • Sourced directly through Les Halles de Quercamps, this wine offers the authentic pricing of a family domaine, without the markup of unnecessary intermediaries.

In the mouth
Dense and tightly wound at first, the palate gradually unfolds. The mid-palate shows real juiciness, supported by mature, supple tannins. Red fruit notes—particularly tart cherry—provide freshness and digestibility. The wine is both serious and approachable, with a lingering finish.
On the nose
The wine announces itself with considerable presence. Dark fruit—blackcurrant and plum—mingles with red cherry, whilst discreet oak adds structure and complexity. There is a certain gravitas to the aromatics, speaking of serious winemaking.
On the eye
Deep garnet red
M. Francois
This 1er Cru Rully demonstrates why the appellation deserves greater recognition. The combination of altitude, soil composition, and careful viticulture produces a wine of genuine depth and balance. Drink now through 2032. A fine expression of Côte Chalonnaise terroir.
