La Turque represents one of Côte-Rôtie's most distinguished vineyard parcels, its schistose soils and ideal south-easterly exposure yielding wines of considerable depth and structural complexity that reward patient cellaring.
The judicious addition of Viognier to Syrah imparts distinctive aromatic layering: delicate floral notes—particularly violet—provide counterpoint to the Syrah's inherent power and dark fruit intensity.
Possessed of formidable tannin structure yet impeccable balance, this wine develops gracefully over decades in bottle, revealing evolving complexity that justifies its reputation as a serious wine of provenance.

Product features : Domaine Guigal - Cote-Rotie la Turque 2019 — Côte-Rôtie
In the mouth
Powerful and well-structured, with firm tannins and silken texture. Ripe dark fruits—blackcurrant and blackberry—interweave with leather, spice, truffle and black olive, whilst violet and dark chocolate notes emerge on the finish. The conclusion is long, mineral-driven and persistent.
On the nose
Intense and layered bouquet: dark fruits—blackberry and plum—meld with black pepper, smoke and leather. Viognier contributes subtle floral notes, chiefly violet, adding refinement to the darker aromatics.
On the eye
Deep purple robe with garnet highlights and an almost opaque core
Breeding
Aged for 42 months in new oak barrels, imparting vanilla and toasted aromas with exceptional structure to the wine
Domaine Guigal's La Turque stands among the Rhône Valley's finest expressions. Here, power and elegance achieve rare equilibrium: dark fruit, spice and floral notes unfold within a velvety matrix of refined, integrated tannins. Cellaring potential spans decades. Pair with game, braised red meats or truffle-based preparations. A benchmark wine for serious collectors.
