Five generations of Burgundy winemaking excellence

  • The domaine tends vines of remarkable maturity: some approaching fifty years of age, whilst others exceed one hundred years. This heritage translates into wines of depth and complexity, drawing sustenance from established root systems and the accumulated wisdom of the terroir.
  • A wine of considerable structure and presence. The 2019 vintage expresses the power inherent to Pommard's geology, yet with the refinement that comes from careful viticulture and measured élevage. This is a wine built for the cellar, yet approachable in its youth.
  • Pommard 1er Cru les Epenots is a classic expression of age-worthiness. The tannin framework is robust and well-integrated, suggesting a wine that will develop gracefully over two decades or more, rewarding patience with increasing complexity and secondary flavours.

In the mouth
The palate confirms what the nose has promised. Tannins are pronounced and characteristic of the appellation, yet they remain supple and silken rather than aggressive. The wine has weight and persistence, with a savoury finish that speaks to terroir rather than oak.
On the nose
The bouquet unfolds with intensity and fullness: dark berries dominate—blackcurrant and plum—with an underlying note of wild undergrowth and forest floor. There is a slight rusticity here, a reminder of Pommard's mineral, austere character.
On the eye
Brilliant ruby red, with the depth of colour that speaks to ripe fruit and careful extraction.
M. Francois
A wine of sufficient structure to accompany venison with redcurrant sauce, or indeed any game course where the wine's tannins and dark fruit can provide counterpoint to rich, gamey flavours. The wine's acidity and mineral backbone will cut through fat and cleanse the palate between courses. Equally suited to beef preparations of some substance.
