16 to 18 months in French oak barrels (approximately 50% new wood).
On the eye
Deep purple-black robe, nearly opaque, with violet and luminous reflections. Phenolic concentration and acidity are impeccably balanced.
On the nose
Vivid dark fruits—cassis, wild blueberry, blackberry—lead to a pronounced mineral signature of chalk and pencil shavings. Liquorice, violet and black truffle emerge, with discreet oak-derived spice.
In the mouth
Dense, broad attack with immediate enveloping richness. Monumentally structured yet athletic. Tannins of remarkable precision: abundant yet silken, without a trace of hardness.
This wine's architecture and mineral definition suit beef empanadas with chorizo particularly well. The wine's acidity and tannin structure cut through richness whilst its dark fruit complements the savoury spice. CHÂTEAU LARCIS DUCASSE
Château Larcis Ducasse covers 11 hectares on the south-facing Côte de Pavie within the Saint-Émilion appellation, on limestone, clay and chalk soils. Founded in 1893, it underwent a decisive renaissance from 2002 when the Gratiot Alphandery family entrusted Nicolas Thienpont and Stéphane Derenoncourt with its direction — reorienting viticulture towards disciplined yields of 25 hl/ha and earning promotion to 1er Grand Cru Classé B in 2012. At Halles Quercamps, we selected this château for the clarity of its terroir expression, the rigour of its winemaking since 2002, and its consistent quality across successive vintages. A Saint-Émilion of genuine distinction, rooted in the Côte de Pavie.
