A Grand Cru Classé of elegance and substance

  • This wine represents a carefully considered blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, two varieties that complement one another on the Right Bank of Bordeaux. The interplay between the two creates a wine of considerable finesse.
  • Grand Mayne demonstrates the hallmark balance of fine Saint-Émilion: power tempered by elegance, structure underpinned by refinement. The tannins are ripe and integrated, suggesting a wine built for the cellar.
  • A wine of substance and breeding, Grand Mayne possesses the depth and constitution to develop gracefully over the coming years. This is a serious expression of its appellation, rewarding patience.

In the mouth
The palate shows well-integrated tannins that provide structure without dominating. There is good balance between the wine's weight and its acidity, with a persistent finish that speaks to quality.
On the nose
The bouquet reveals the character of Merlot: red and black currant notes with subtle dark fruit complexity. The aromatics are layered and evolve with aeration.
On the eye
Deep garnet, with good concentration and intensity of colour throughout.
Breeding
18 months in barrels (60% new oak – 40% one year old)
M. Francois
Chateau Grand Mayne pairs admirably with braised and slow-cooked red meats, where its tannin structure complements the richness of the dish. It is equally at home with grilled preparations, where the wine's freshness cuts through the char and smoke. A versatile food wine of genuine merit.
