A historic estate in the heart of Margaux

  • This wine displays the elegance characteristic of the appellation, with refined tannins that speak to careful viticulture and measured extraction. The structure is sufficiently defined to reward cellaring without overwhelming the fruit.
  • The 2021 vintage shows genuine ageing potential. The balance between ripe fruit and acidity suggests this wine will develop complexity and secondary characteristics over the coming decade, evolving gracefully in bottle.
  • Sourced directly through our merchant network in Bordeaux, this Cru Bourgeois represents genuine value—the hallmark of our house since 1975. You benefit from our relationships and expertise without intermediary markup.

Product features : Chateau la Tour de Mons - Cru Bourgeois 2021 — Margaux

Breeding
Twelve months' élevage in oak barrels, 40% new and 60% one-year-old wood.
On the eye
A generous ruby hue with good depth and clarity, suggesting ripe fruit and well-managed extraction.
On the nose
The bouquet unfolds with delicate precision: blackcurrant and plum are complemented by subtle cedar and graphite notes. The aromatic profile is refined rather than showy, inviting closer examination.
In the mouth
The palate reveals a wine of genuine breeding. The tannin structure is perfectly balanced—present enough to frame the fruit, yet never aggressive. Red and dark fruit flavours are supported by a mineral backbone that speaks to the terroir of Margaux.
M. Francois
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, braised veal, and substantial beef dishes, particularly those with earthy accompaniments such as sautéed mushrooms. It also complements mature hard cheeses with considerable grace. The wine's restraint makes it a versatile food companion.

CHATEAU LA TOUR DE MONS

Situated at Soussans on the northern slopes of the Margaux appellation, Château la Tour de Mons extends across 58 hectares of gravelly and argilo-calcareous soils along the Garonne. Founded in 1623 by Pierre de Mons, the château passed in 2020 to the Perrodo family, already established at Margaux with Châteaux Labégorce and Marquis d'Alesme, bringing fresh rigour and HVE certification to a historic address. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the coherence of the Perrodo project, the consistent quality achieved since the 2020 takeover, and the elegance that defines Margaux at its most classical. A château well worth following over the coming vintages.
