On the eye
Medium-intensity garnet hue, clear and bright
On the nose
The bouquet opens with fresh red fruit—cherry and raspberry—with subtle floral undertones characteristic of the appellation. Air reveals gentle spice notes.
In the mouth
Red fruit flavours develop with pleasing intensity on the palate, complemented by a distinctive liquorice note that adds complexity and length. The tannins are refined and well-integrated, giving the wine a silky texture.
A wine of genuine charm and balance. The 2021 vintage shows the elegance Pessac-Léognan can achieve. Serve at 16–17°C with grilled lamb or beef, or simply as a contemplative glass. It will develop further over the next five to seven years, but is entirely approachable now.

CLOS MARSALETTE
Set across 14 hectares of gravelly ridges in Martillac, Clos Marsalette draws on a varied subsoil — faluns, tawny sands and variegated clays from Miocene and Pliocene marine sediments — at the heart of Pessac-Léognan. Founded in 1991 by Comte Stephan von Neipperg, already behind Canon-La Gaffelière and La Mondotte, the château underwent a thorough overhaul of its winemaking facilities in 2002, marking a decisive step forward in quality. At Halles Quercamps, we selected this château for the discipline of its yields — a mere 22 hl/ha — and for the precision with which it renders both colours of Pessac-Léognan across an authentically Bordelais gravel terroir. A discreet cru, run with the rigour of the finest Left Bank estates.
