  • An elegant, well-balanced wine displaying the refined tannin structure characteristic of the finest Saint-Julien crus. The wine demonstrates admirable restraint and complexity, rewarding both immediate appreciation and patient cellaring.

In the mouth
The palate is well-balanced and structured, with ripe tannins providing a firm but not aggressive framework. The wine displays good length and a dry, elegant finish that speaks to careful winemaking and fine raw materials
On the nose
Aromas of dark fruits—blackcurrant and plum—mingle with notes of cedar and tobacco leaf, revealing the wine's Cabernet-led composition and the subtle influence of fine wood élevage
On the eye
Deep garnet, with a lustrous appearance suggesting good concentration and structure
Breeding
In French oak barrels for a period of 12 to 18 months
M. Francois
A wine of considerable finesse that pairs beautifully with roasted lamb dishes, particularly those prepared with herbs and slow-cooked preparations. The wine's structure and mineral character also complement beef dishes, game, and aged cheeses. Decant thirty minutes before service to allow the wine to open fully.

CHATEAU MOULIN RICHE

Covering 20 contiguous hectares on Garonne gravels and aeolian sands in the north-west of Saint-Julien-Beychevelle, Château Moulin Riche is a rare single-block vineyard. Founded in 1885 and acquired by the Cuvelier family in 1920, it is the only Saint-Julien wine classified Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel in 1932. After decades as the second wine of Léoville Poyferré, it reclaimed independence as a grand vin from the 2009 vintage. At Halles Quercamps, we selected this château for its restored identity, the precision of its Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot blend, and a terroir now fully expressed on its own terms. A Saint-Julien of real character, worth following vintage by vintage.
