Breeding
12 to 16 months in 80% new French oak barrels and 20% one-year-old casks
On the eye
Deep purple-crimson with electric violet highlights; almost black at the core.
On the nose
Red and dark fruit aromas predominate, with secondary notes of roasted spice and subtle mineral undertones that hint at the wine's terroir origins.
In the mouth
Substantial tannins of remarkable fineness provide the backbone. The plateau terroir imparts a vertical structure—a sense of mineral precision beneath the dark fruit weight. Powerful yet refined, with a lingering stone-fruit finish.
M. Francois
This is modern Saint-Émilion plateau in its purest form: inky colour, velvety mid-palate, mineral conclusion. Sansonnet has established itself among the appellation's most reliable producers. The wine possesses an internal energy that animates its dark fruit character—athletic, complex, and rewarding. Pair with beef shoulder and roasted vegetables.
