A wine of immediate pleasure and genuine substance

  • This is a wine to accompany you throughout a meal, from aperitif through to cheese. Its balanced fruitiness and good length make it a natural companion to the table rather than a wine requiring special occasion.
  • Chateau du Grand Barrail reflects real winemaking knowledge. The producers understand their terroir and craft wines that express it honestly, without pretension or excessive extraction.
  • Les Halles de Quercamps sources directly from the château, allowing us to offer this wine at grower prices rather than through the usual distribution markup. You benefit from our long-standing relationships with family producers.

Product features : Vignobles Denis Lafon Chateau du Grand Barrail 2018 — Blaye

In the mouth
The palate is rounded and fruit-forward with good structure. Tannins are present but integrated, and the wine finishes with genuine length. This is a wine built for food rather than for showiness.
On the nose
The bouquet reveals attractive red and dark fruit aromas—plum and blackcurrant—with subtle earthiness that suggests proper terroir expression rather than over-ripe extraction.
On the eye
Deep ruby red with a lustrous appearance that speaks to careful winemaking.
Breeding
In stainless steel vat
M. Francois
Serve this wine with charcuterie, white meats, grilled preparations, and red meat dishes. It is equally at home with mature cheeses. The 2018 vintage shows the balance and restraint that characterises the best of Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux—wines that age gracefully without demanding decades in the cellar.

VIGNOBLES DENIS LAFON

Established on the clay-limestone hillsides of Cars in the Gironde, Vignobles Denis Lafon farm 43 hectares under the Bordeaux appellation, certified organic from the 2020 vintage. Founded by Denis Lafon in 1967 — with roots in the Blayais traceable to the 18th century — the estate gained fresh momentum in 2014 when his nephew Stéphane Dejoué joined him, driving both its expansion and full conversion to organic farming. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the integrity of its organic commitment, the breadth of its encépagement — Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Sémillon, Sauvignon — and the honest expression of its red, white, and rosé wines. A family Bordeaux address well worth following.
