The second wine of Château Chasse-Spleen

  • This wine merits patience. Allow it several years in bottle to reveal its full character and complexity. The structure is present now, but the finest drinking lies ahead.
  • A balanced expression with a frank, direct attack on the palate. The wine shows composure and clarity, hallmarks of serious Médoc winemaking.
  • This cuvée distils the technical mastery and vineyard knowledge of Château Chasse-Spleen itself. The same rigorous selection and élevage inform both grand vin and second wine.

Product features : l'Heritage de Chasse-Spleen 2020 — Haut-Médoc

In the mouth
Fine-grained tannins support the palate. Good volume and persistence. Intense cherry aromatics dominate, with spice undertones and a clean, measured finish.
On the nose
Aromas of redcurrant and white pepper, with subtle oak influence and restrained vanillin notes. The bouquet develops with air.
On the eye
Limpid and bright, with good depth of colour.
M. Francois
A food-friendly wine of genuine substance. The structure and tannin profile suit rich, marrow-rich beef preparations particularly well. Consider it alongside roasted game or beef en croûte. Decant one hour before service to allow the aromatics to open.

CHATEAU CHASSE-SPLEEN

Sitting on the celebrated Grand-Poujeaux plateau in Moulis-en-Médoc, Château Chasse-Spleen covers 107 hectares of some of the most consistent Médoc gravel soils in the appellation. Born from the partition of the Grand-Poujeaux estate in 1822, the château was acquired in 1976 by the Merlaut family, today represented by Céline and Jean-Pierre Villars-Foubet, who have steered it towards Terra Vitis and HVE certification and expanded its footprint significantly with the purchase of neighbouring Château Brillette in 2022. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the reliability of its reds, the precision of their élevage, and the clarity of a long-term viticultural vision. A dependable reference for anyone seeking Moulis at its most assured.
