The secondary expression of a distinguished Moulis terroir

  • The second wine of Château Poujeaux, one of Moulis's most respected names. This cuvée captures the essence of the estate's approach: rigorous selection and careful élevage to produce a wine of genuine character.
  • A wine of considerable structure and balance. The blend shows power without heaviness—the hallmark of serious Médoc winemaking. Tannins are refined, the finish persistent and clean.
  • A thoughtful assemblage that respects the vintage and the terroir. Each component—Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and supporting varieties—plays its part in a composition that rewards both near-term drinking and modest cellaring.

In the mouth
The palate confirms what the nose suggests: power married to elegance. There is real substance here—good weight, fine tannin grip, and a mineral undertone that speaks of the left-bank gravel. The finish is long and balanced, with no rough edges.
On the nose
Subtle, layered aromatics: dark plum, cedar, and a whisper of graphite. The nose is refined rather than showy, with no sense of extraction. Tannins are evident but soft, almost silky on the initial impression.
On the eye
Deep ruby to garnet. A colour that speaks of ripe fruit and mature structure.
Breeding
Aged in French oak barrels for 12 months.
M. Francois
I recommend this wine with roasted lamb, beef in a light sauce, or game birds such as guinea fowl. It will also serve well with mature cheeses of character—a good Comté or aged Reblochon, for instance. Drink now through 2030 for best effect.
