The elegant middle ground between Gevrey-Chambertin's structure and Chambolle-Musigny's refinement

  • A wine of considerable balance, built on finesse and elegance rather than weight. The palate shows admirable restraint and composure, allowing the fruit and terroir character to emerge without bombast.
  • The tannin structure is crisp and well-defined, providing backbone without heaviness. These are tannins that refresh the palate and encourage contemplation rather than dominate.
  • Seven generations of family winemaking knowledge inform every decision at Domaine Marchand-Grillot. This continuity of vision and technique is evident in wines of consistent character and integrity.

Breeding
Extended ageing in oak barrels
On the eye
Deep ruby robe with subtle tile-coloured rim development, indicating graceful early maturity.
On the nose
Finely layered bouquet combining savoury depth with exquisite red fruit character. The nose suggests both richness and restraint in equal measure.
In the mouth
Red and black fruits dominate the palate, accompanied by pleasant grilled notes and subtle spice. The finish is clean and persistent, with good mineral definition.
M. Francois
This wine shows its best alongside roasted red meats, particularly when accompanied by seasonal vegetable preparations. The wine's structure and acidity make it equally suited to game birds and richer poultry dishes. Serve at 16°C after brief decanting.
