The essence of Bordeaux terroir and tradition

  • This 2016 Clos de Bouard represents the marriage of classical Bordeaux winemaking with thoughtful contemporary practice. The result is a wine of considerable finesse, offering the drinker both immediate pleasure and the promise of graceful development in the cellar.
  • The vineyard's distinctive terroir—clay and limestone soils on the slopes of Montagne-St-Emilion—combined with meticulous viticulture and élevage, has produced a cuvée of notable complexity and aromatic refinement. This is serious winemaking.
  • Clos de Bouard merits the attention of discerning collectors. Its balanced structure, layered fruit expression, and proven capacity for evolution make it a wine of genuine substance—one that rewards patience and repays careful cellaring.

Product features : Clos de Bouard 2016 — Montagne-St-Emilion

In the mouth
Fruited and generous on the palate, with refined tannins that provide structure without heaviness. The wine shows excellent balance and a lingering finish.
On the nose
Subtle spiced and smoky notes frame the core of red fruit. The aromatics are restrained and complex, unfolding gradually with air.
On the eye
Deep, densely coloured robe with excellent concentration
M. Francois
This wine pairs beautifully with game terrines and confits—particularly hare, pheasant, and goose. It also complements aged cheeses such as Chambarand admirably. Decant an hour before service to allow the wine to open fully. Drinking well now, with potential to develop further over the next decade.
