The refined second wine of a Margaux classic

  • Brio is the second wine of Château Cantenac Brown, a Third Growth classified in 1855. It inherits the hallmarks of its grand vin—structure, elegance, and terroir expression—whilst offering earlier approachability and excellent value.
  • Charming and poised, with a silky texture and refined fruit character. This is a wine that rewards both immediate drinking and patient cellaring; it develops complexity and depth over several years in bottle.
  • Drink Brio young to enjoy its fresh red fruit and delicate balance, or lay it down for five to eight years to discover deeper layers of structure and secondary flavours. It bridges the gap between pleasure and seriousness.

Product features : Brio de Cantenac Brown 2014 Margaux Red Wine 75cl

In the mouth
Silky attack with fine-grained tannins. The palate shows red fruit purity and a savoury mid-palate. The finish is long and composed, with notes of liquorice, black pepper, and a touch of confiture. Well-balanced acidity carries it through.
On the nose
Elegant and inviting: red and dark fruits—cherry, plum, blackcurrant—with subtle floral notes and a whisper of cedar. The bouquet unfolds gradually, revealing mineral undertones characteristic of Margaux.
On the eye
Deep garnet, with good colour intensity and clarity. A wine of substance and breeding.
Breeding
In oak barrels of which 25% new and 75% one year old
M. Francois
I find Brio at its best with dishes that echo its elegance without overwhelming it. Veal Marengo is a natural pairing—the tomato sauce and olives complement the wine's fruit and savoury character beautifully. It also suits roasted poultry, game birds, and mature cheeses. A wine that reminds us why Margaux holds such esteem.

CHATEAU CANTENAC BROWN

A Third Grand Cru Classé of the Margaux appellation, Château Cantenac Brown extends across 60 hectares of deep gravel soils on the Cantenac plateau in the Gironde. Founded in 1806 by the Scotsman John Lewis Brown — who commissioned a striking neo-Tudor château quite unlike anything else in the Médoc — the estate was acquired in December 2019 by the Le Lous family (Urgo group) for approximately €150 million, bringing fresh ambition and a new rammed-earth winery inaugurated in 2023. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the precision of its blend — Cabernet Sauvignon-led, with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot — and for the long-term vision being applied to one of Bordeaux's most celebrated terroirs. A Médoc classic, renewed with purpose.
