A concentrated Gamay from the heart of Morgon

  • This wine expresses the richness and depth characteristic of the finest Morgon cuvées. Sourced from a select parcel near the Croix at the southern summit of Côte du Py, it demonstrates the terroir's capacity for complexity and structure.
  • The fruit derives from a small, precisely-defined vineyard site positioned at the apex of Côte du Py's south-facing slope. This elevation and aspect concentrate the Gamay's natural character and mineral expression.
  • Les Halles de Quercamps offers this wine at a fair merchant's price, reflecting our direct relationship with the domaine and our commitment to representing fine Beaujolais without unnecessary markup.

In the mouth
Concentrated and structured, with fine tannins that frame the wine's ripe fruit. The palate shows excellent richness and a lingering finish that speaks to the quality of the vineyard site.
On the nose
The bouquet reveals dark cherry and plum, with underlying notes of liquorice and a hint of white pepper. The aromatics develop with air, suggesting maturity and careful élevage.
On the eye
Deep garnet with subtle purple undertones
M. Francois
This Morgon pairs admirably with charcuterie—particularly the robust, artisanal varieties such as Lyon's rosette. The wine's structure and depth also suit roasted poultry and soft cheeses. A serious expression of Beaujolais that rewards patient cellaring.

DOMAINE JEAN-MARC BURGAUD

Based in Villié-Morgon, Domaine Jean-Marc Burgaud farms 19 hectares across the celebrated slopes of the Côte du Py, at the heart of the Morgon appellation. Founded in 1989, the estate gained its true character in 1992 when Jean-Marc — trained in Burgundy and steeped in a vigneron family — took over his father-in-law's vines on these iron- and manganese-rich schists. That Burgundian formation shows: he reads his parcels with the rigour of a climat, coaxing both power and finesse from Gamay Noir on some of Beaujolais's most distinctive terroir. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the precision of its vineyard work, the typicity of its Morgon, and a consistency of style that places it firmly among the serious addresses of the appellation. A benchmark for the cellar.
