Faisant partie de l'ensemble des appellations "Côtes de Bordeaux", ces vins sont principalement élaborés à partir des cépages Merlot et Cabernet Sauvignon. Les rouges de Blaye se caractérisent par leur rondeur, leurs notes fruitées de prune et de cerise, ainsi que par des touches épicées et boisées.
